What happens in a reading with Susan? Well, a reading is composed of three elements: Clairvoyance, Psychic Empathy, and Mediumship.
Clairvoyance is the ability to "see" with the mind's eye, or for some psychics, the naked eye, information that would not be immediately available in the present. Clairvoyants see images as if they were being shown on a screen, either in moving pictures or slides. Sometimes they see slides or symbols or colors.
Psychic Empathy is different than emotional empathy, although good psychics need to be able to engage with their clients with compassion to use this unique skill. Psychic Empathy is the ability to feel the emotions, physical health, and thought process of another person as if it were one's own. So, it's different than sympathy, which implies the ability to relate to one's subject. A good psychic will be able to distinguish between her own experiences and feelings and those of her client when using this skill. A good way to describe it is to say that Psychic Empaths merge with the consciousness and energy of the person they are reading for, to experience what it's like to actually be that person and live in his/her body.
Mediumship is the ability to hear and communicate with spirit guides that surround us. A medium can relay messages from those who are departed of this earth, as well as contact guides you may not even know you had.
Most Intuitives have a default skill, meaning they are strongest in one of these three areas. Some start out strong in one area, and then develop the others until all are equally strong. My dominant skill was as an Empath when I started doing readings over twenty years ago. Since then, the other two modalities have developed to join together and I use all three when reading for a client. Pictures can blend with messages and feelings to bring the most accurate information to whomever I am reading for at that moment.
