I know how scary it all feels right now

We’re at Level Turbulent, right? Or are we? Like, how bad is it going to get? Wait, don’t tell me. I don’t want to know.

Occasionally these days, folks have the courage to say some version of this to me, but I’m assuming most of y’all just think it and then get sucked back into the void.

I am not a media expert, but I’m thinking right now that the absolute worst place to bring your uncertainty and anxiety is to social media. Here we are in the Information Age, where anything we feel we need to know comes at us via a variety of digital landscapes. We approach first, sure, but then the firehose starts and we barely make it out with our nervous systems intact.

Reality itself is weird and brutal enough right now, (is 7th Circle of Hell too extra?) but remember, this is the Information Age we’re living in, and now, in addition to information becoming siloed and fodder for propaganda, it has become weaponized. Just to stay informed and engaged, we must risk our emotional and spiritual stability. More often than not, that weapon will suck the life out of you, taking your time, energy, and money with it, and most importantly, it will steal what is becoming a most precious commodity, your attention, away from you before you even realize what’s happened.

How often do you look up 30 minutes after you went into your phone to just check one quick thing?

It’s the unrelenting sense of unease that primes us for more drama and anxiety, that gets us caught in a dopamine trap which in turn makes us willingly hit that button over and over and over.

And over.

Until we’re stuck.

Maybe The 7th Circle of Hell is too tame, actually.

take your leg out of the bear trap

I encourage you to remember, even if you have to remind yourself by writing it down on a 3”x5” card that you put in your pocket and carry with you all day long, that fear and intuition do not exist at the same time.

Say it with me again: If I am afraid, I cannot access *any* level of intuitive information that will be helpful to me or anyone else.

Now breathe.

I also implore you to audit who you’re following on the socials. How big of a play are they making for your attention? How loudly/quickly do they speak? Do they use big fonts and bright colors and predictions of certain doom? Do they constantly post imploring you to “wake up”? How often do they talk about how afraid they are?

Listen I am not saying that the situation our country finds itself in is not concerning. In fact I am the last person you will hear say that, actually. But the constant perseveration of panic in front of an audience is not activism. It’s disempowering and it wastes time and energy better spent actually being helpful to one another.

Change happens when we make our voices heard, there is absolutely no doubt about that, and the voices of BIPOC, LGBTQ and women need to be front and center right now. But that is only one part of participating in solving the global injuries incurred by the billionaire class and the far right. They have festered and are demanding to be healed right now. And I think we have a good shot at it if we remember to stay in the big picture and listen to our intuition.

for the love of all that is good, get quiet

I promise you, you are not going to miss anything you need to know. Let yourself live in this moment, exactly as you are, in the world exactly as it is. (If done properly, this is going to kick your ass and requires every single bit of yourself to actualize).

Ask your intuition to guide you towards the highest good for the greatest number. To be as honest with yourself as you can be. As generous as you can be. As kind as you can be.

You are a channel for everything that the world needs right now.

Don’t waste your breath sounding alarms into the echo chamber of your fear.

Breathe for yourself, and then go *do* something.
