I originally kicked off The 10-day Intuitive Reset several years ago in January, specifically as a themed rebellion against New Year’s Resolutions (so not a fan). But one thing I’ve noticed is that the current social media hell landscape is at its core a space dedicated to constant “improvement”. Of me, you, society, your body, your house, your skin, your mood, your pets. And more. Feeding off of the precious resource that is your attention, rigging the dopamine receptors in your brain to stay depleted, almost every single post you see is designed to cement the belief that there is something needing fixing, replenishment, adjustment, repair in yourself, your life, the world.

And while yes, we do come here as seekers, learners, cravers of community and stimulation, that posture (leaning into the firehose that characterizes the Information Age we live in) is highly problematic if you are interested in becoming more aware of your intuition. High states of anxiety and constant whirling mental obsessions will shout your intuition down, on the way to shutting it away in a corner of your psyche entirely.

Your intuition needs quiet. It needs stillness. It needs slowness and deep breathing. I’ve tried for years to run my social accounts so that’s what you experience first. But even I am offering you a similar experience in that we’re meeting each other in a digital public square where I’m teaching and sharing and you’re on the receiving end of that.

Of course, there is a ton on social media that is sweeteducationalfunny, and inspiring. There’s even more if you are interested in building community irl. Or raising your consciousness. (Just a very few examples!). But even if you’re online in limited doses, focused on keeping your consumption light and your mood intact, nobody is naive enough anymore to believe that you’re going to emerge unscathed. These apps are designed to get you hooked and keep you addicted to the click-y scroll. And how they do that is to create a constant deficit of value between a false sense of who you are and who you think you should be.

So as well as suggesting that you ditch your resolutions (New Year’s or any other kind) like a pair of shoes that won’t break in, I’m here to tell you that if you are interested in developing a relationship with your intuition-which is already fully formed by the way-you don’t need to create any kind of improvement manifesto ever, ever, ever again. Not at the beginning of the calendar year, certainly at the beginning of any season, and definitely not as summer is waning and our attention will naturally turn inward ;).

Even if you’ve already tried really damn hard to keep wearing those improvement shoes. Even if you paid what now seems like too much for them, rationalizing they would make you happy because you got compliments on them, or because someone else swore by the brand. There is no sunk cost to becoming aware of the intuitive power already alive within you.

Maybe deep down you know: These are not my shoes.

That’s the problem with goals and resolutions. The externally-based energy that infuses them is stingy. It includes none of the magic of the Universe and it often limits you before you even try to start doing whatever it is you think you should start doing that’s supposed to make you happy or make you a better person. Willpower’s pinchy like that.

I am here to declare on your behalf that you are good, whole, unique, and utterly amazing right now, just the way you are. And there is a better way to source what’s ahead. It may indeed include change, but it will be real change. Change in your behaviors or in your relationships starts with first changing what you believe about yourself and what you believe is possible. Trying to correct what you perceive as a lack of something within yourself is doomed to failure.

And the only way to know for sure you’re on a deeper, more abundant path is to plug into your heart so that while you’re making new choices you are also grounded in the connection to that still small voice inside you. Your inner voice is constantly guiding you to your most cherished values, to opportunities full of promise and growth, and it’s always sending you to the people, places, and situations that are for your highest good. And theirs! Your intuition, especially during times that call for courage, is especially generous like that. It will direct you to the path that leads to the highest good for the greatest number, every single time.

I hope you’ll come along for my 10 Day Intuitive Reset. I’ve designed it for everyone at any level of experience or skill, whether you’re a passionate and seasoned spiritual seeker or new to all of this and curious. Each day of the reset there will be new ideas about connecting and trusting your intuition that are sure to get you pointed in the right direction, as well as daily thought exercises to mull over or journal about.

Onward, toward that really comfy pair of shoes!

Ready, set, Reset!
